Mervat Soltan Charity Foundation

- About the Foundation:

Mervat Soltan Foundation supports and implements developmental and healthcare initiatives that serve Egypt’s most vulnerable communities, with the goal of achieving sustainable development and improving the quality of life for all citizens.

It focuses particularly on eye care and the prevention of blindness and visual impairment in rural and underserved areas through a comprehensive medical system that provides free eye examinations, surgical operations, prescription eyeglasses, and essential treatments.
The Foundation believes that healthcare is a right for everyone, and that restoring sight is a powerful means of achieving sustainable human development.

- About Mervat Soltan:

Mervat Soltan Foundation for Charitable Works was established to continue the legacy of the late banking leader Mervat Soltan, whose lifelong commitment to community service and charitable work focused on supporting Egypt’s most vulnerable groups. She believed deeply in the impact of social responsibility and personally followed up on initiatives to ensure they reached those most in need.

Throughout her distinguished banking career, Mervat Soltan held several key leadership positions. She served as Chairperson of the Export Development Bank of Egypt until April 14, 2022, and was the first and only woman to chair both the Egyptian Export Guarantee Company and a state-owned Egyptian bank. Her achievements earned her recognition among the 50 most influential women in the financial sector.

Today, the foundation continues her mission by advancing sustainable development and impactful charitable projects that place people at the heart of its priorities.

Mission & Vision

Our Message

We work to combat the causes of blindness, preserve sight, and enhance quality of life through awareness, early detection, and accessible, comprehensive eye care for all — because every person deserves the chance to see clearly and live with dignity.

Vision

For everyone to see the light.
A future where no one in Egypt is deprived of the gift of sight, and where restored vision opens the door to opportunity, equality, and hope.

Our Philosophy

Compassion is at the heart of everything we do.
For us, empathy goes beyond helping those who are less fortunate — it’s about recognizing that we are all connected as one family within our country.
This shared humanity drives our mission at the Mervat Soltan Foundation, where we build programs that empower people across Egypt through care, dignity, and light — working together to create a healthier, brighter, and more compassionate society.
